If you need cash for college, you’ve come to the right place! Thank you for visiting the Cash for College Web site!
A college education is an investment in your future. Fortunately, financial aid is available to help almost everyone manage the cost. This Web site can help you learn how to apply for financial aid. You can also listen to our podcast and learn how to get started. Don’t forget to explore other financial aid opportunities!
To apply for federal financial aid and the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program, you must complete a form called the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1 of each year. The FAFSA is used to determine your family’s financial strength and your eligibility for federal student financial aid including grants, work-study and student loans.
>>Go to "Types of Aid" for more information on available financial aid. If you are wanting information only on Federal programs, visit "Federal Aid" and,
for Oklahoma grants and scholarships, visit "State Aid."
The best way to complete the FAFSA is online by using FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Using this method is strongly recommended because applications are processed quickly; errors are identified right away; and online instructions are provided for each question. Applicants can even "chat" live online with a customer service representative for help. Or you can ask for help by calling 800.4.FED.AID or visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov.
>>Go to "Applying for Aid" for more information on the FAFSA.
If you don’t have access to the internet, you can obtain a paper copy of the FAFSA directly from any student financial aid office, most public libraries, the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800.4.FED.AID and by calling an Oklahoma expert at 866.443.7420 or 405.234.4239 in Oklahoma City.
All of this information is available free of charge. Remember the first “F” in FAFSA stands for “Free!” Be wary of any organization that requires you to pay to fill out the FAFSA!
What happens if I transfer to a different school? Many financial aid awards can follow students who transfer to other eligible institutions. A transfer student
should add the new institution to his or her FAFSA data and contact the institution's financial aid office for
more specific information and guidance.
Questions regarding the transfer of financial aid awards can also be directed to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher
Education Student Information Hotline at 1.800.858.1840 or studentinfo@osrhe.edu.
